Frame & Reframe

This week we share a powerful message from Ray Bard. We all have heard that it's important to put positive thoughts into your mind, Ray's message gives us some great tools to make sure we are putting the thoughts that will actually make a difference in our outcomes personally and professionally!

Does what you think make a difference in how you act?

What a dumb question!

So, how can you think so that will it make a difference in how you act? What can you do to think in ways that increase your sales, happiness, and contribution — and your bank account?

"You can't start a fire without a spark." (Bruce Springsteen)

A Strategy

Here's a strategy. It's what I call Frame & Reframe. You're probably familiar with framing. When you use the phrase "I need to reframe this," it means finding a different way to think about something — an attitude adjustment.

You know how to frame when shooting photos, framing houses, and framing art. But how do you frame your thoughts? The first way is to choose what you want to feed your brain. You're originating a thought. It's like going to the grocery store and deciding what goes in your cart.

The second way is to Reframe. Here you're reacting to an outside message. It's like reading a restaurant menu (someone else's frame) and deciding you don't want what's on the menu — and then negotiating with your waiter for what you want to be served. Or, going to another restaurant.

Framing & Reframing is consciously translating our external experiences and internal thoughts into empowering brain food. It's deciding what you put in your brain — and what you keep out. It's consciously seeking and using ideas that enable your success. A continuous process of framing and reframing. It's firing up your brain for becoming your best self.

"It's your thoughts behind the words you speak that create your attitude." (Jeffrey Gittomer)

What's Your Diet?

Framing is based on the assumption that motivation is internal and you're in control of your diet — whether physical or mental. What's your mental Frame & Reframe diet? Is it more like double cheeseburgers with bacon or something healthier?

"How you feed your mind is every bit as critical to your happiness as how you feed your body." (Jeff Olson)

A Spark

Do you wait for someone to give you a spark? Or do you create your own?

"It takes half your life before you discover life is a do-it yourself project." (Napoleon Hill)

You likely agree with Napoleon — it's up to you. So how?

Do you like motivational quotes? Do you use them to Frame and Reframe your thinking? Do you use them to fire up fellow salespeople and friends? Do you keep your own collection of favorites quotes, put them on your refrigerator door, and share in conversation and via social media?

What's the value of quotes? Are they more like M&Ms — or diamonds? Are they just a fleeting, sugary bit of inspiration — or are they more precious and longer lasting? Do you have a quote you've cherished over the years — one that's enriched your thinking? Those are the diamonds. The M&M's are the sweet ones that quickly melt in your mouth — a short pleasurable burst. Over the long haul, it's the diamonds that inspire us, energize us to keep going, and power us toward our goals.

Years ago, I discovered Peter Nivio Zarienga's (The Orator) quote "Action conquers fear." It's simple, short, and powerful. I've gone back to it again and again over the years. Many times it's been a great reminder that without action, nothing happens.

If your business needs marketing that works, give us a call. We're here to help!

Be blessed this week.

Drago
