Which Road Are You Travelling?

This week we share a very powerful message from author and speaker, Julio Melara. Julio's message is a great reminder about how to have the right mindset that will keep us on the right frequency towards success.

These last couple of weeks I have focused on the importance of having the right mindset in life. Today, I want to remind you that our mindset determines which road we travel on.  One road is paved in scarcity and the other road is filled with abundance at every turn.  The cool thing in life is we get to decide which road we want to travel on. Years ago, I learned about the difference between an ABUNDANCE mindset vs a SCARCITY mindset and realized whichever mindset you have makes a huge difference in the results you get at work and in life.

The scarcity mindset will automatically orient your mind towards, lack, doubt, unbelief, unfilled wants and needs.  It overflows with strong negative reactions and can be quite painful for the individual and create unnecessary fear, anxiety and desperation.  With this mindset, willpower, dreaming and persevering are depleted, which makes one prone to feelings of giving up.

However, those that chose to walk along the path of abundance mindset experience a completely different life. Opting to live life to the fullest, exuding joy, faith and belief that things can and will be better changes the game of life.  What I love the most is the abundance mentality, tells you that there are always new chances, opportunities and possibilities. The truth is, an abundance mentality can help you improve performance and results.  Today I want to share with you FOUR BIG differences between those with a scarcity mindset vs an abundance mindset.

1. Thinking Big vs Thinking Small

Those with an abundant mindset are renowned for thinking big, it is part of their DNA.  Scarcity mindset creates limitations in the mind which prevents the creation of audacious goals.  If you’re in sales or business, THINKING BIG is a difference maker.  Thinking small gets small results and leaves you in your comfort zone. Thinking Big is not just courageous but sets you up for BIG POSSIBILITIES, RESULTS and OPPORTUNITIES.

2. Plenty vs Lack

Those with an abundant mentality believe there is plenty of everything in the world from resources, clients, love, relationships, wealth and opportunities.  Those with a lack mentality prefer to believe that there is limited opportunities, resources, relationships, love and wealth.  Not a good way to live.

3.  Embracing Change vs Fear of Change

A person with an abundant mindset understands that change is an integral part of life.  They embrace and accept change.  Appreciating the fact that change often leads to more positive outcomes, even if change is somewhat challenging or difficult to navigate.  Fear and anxiety plagues those with a scarcity mindset.  They will spend time constantly complaining and whining about change and take a longer period of time to accept change.

4. Proactive vs Reactive

The positive attitude of those with an abundant mindset, sets them up to have a pro-active approach to life.  An abundance mentality is pro-active and is constantly in a mode of learning and growth.  They have a never ending thirst for knowledge and developing new skills, whereas people with a scarcity mindset believe they know everything thereby severely limiting their learning and growth.  Rather than waiting for things to happen and then reacting like those with a scarcity mindset do, those with an abundance mindset strategically plan for the future and create strategies for the long-term.

All of us have the ability to shift our mindset.  The path you have traveled thus far is not set in stone, such is the beauty of life, you can change!  Deciding to change paths is the first step.  If you already have an abundance mindset keep it going and keep it growing.  If you have been stuck in scarcity mindset today is the day to shift.

Remember, life is short, live large, believe big and have faith in the endless possibilities life has to offer.  If you choose to live an abundant life you will create memorable moments you can cherish forever and have no regrets in the end.
