There’s a moment in every game—on the ice, in business, or in life—when quitting feels easier than pressing on. You’re tired. The obstacles feel bigger than your energy.

As a professional hockey player, I faced plenty of doors slammed in my face.
I wasn’t always the most talented guy on the ice, but I made a decision early on:
I would never let someone outwork me.
I skated harder. Stayed longer. Took the hits. Got back up.
And that persistence eventually led me to signing a NHL contract —a dream come true, born not from ease, but from grit.
That same fire carried into business.
Starting and growing a business isn’t a smooth ride.
There were seasons where I questioned everything. Where bills piled up and motivation ran thin.
But I kept showing up. Kept putting one foot in front of the other.
Because I knew: the only way to fail for sure is to stop moving.
Now, as a hockey coach, I see this every day in my players.
Some kids come in unsure, discouraged, struggling.
But the ones who stick with it—the ones who show up early, work hard, listen, and fight through the tough moments—those are the ones who grow into real leaders.
Not just on the ice, but in life.
Here’s the Truth
You don’t have to be the fastest, strongest, or smartest.
You just have to be the one who doesn’t give up.
Hard work works.
Persistence pays off.
And adversity isn’t your enemy—it’s your trainer.
Every setback is sharpening you.
Every tough day is building your toughness.
Every challenge is preparing you for your next breakthrough.
Your Challenge This Week:
Where in your life do you need to keep skating?
Maybe it’s a goal you’ve set but haven’t hit yet.
A dream you’ve put on hold.
