5 Thoughts Worth Thinking About
Lately I have really enjoyed going for a 10 KM walk each morning out in nature. I find it so peaceful to take in creation, the sights, sounds, smells, seeing eagles and the occasional bear it really quiets the mind and allows space for deep thinking and gratitude.
From the rink to the boardroom to the family room—these are 5 truths that I have been pondering on my walks.
Check Out Our Video Of The Week – Change Your Habits – Change Your Life

1. Adversity doesn’t break you—it reveals you.
People often ask what it’s like to play pro hockey. I could talk about the rush of a big win, making a big save or the pride of putting my jersey. But the moments I remember most? The grind. The setbacks. The nights I questioned if I was good enough or mentally tough enough..
Those are the moments that revealed who I was. And the same has been true in business. When things fall apart—when the client walks, when the deal dies, when everything feels like it’s going wrong—that’s when your character gets built.
When life squeezes you, what’s inside comes out. Let adversity sharpen you, not shake you.
2. Progress happens quietly.
In coaching, it’s easy to spot the kid with natural talent. What’s harder to see—but infinitely more powerful—is the one who shows up early, listens hard, and works relentlessly, even when no one is watching.
It’s the same in life. The results people admire are often built in seasons no one ever sees. It’s the quiet mornings. The daily disciplines. The prayers behind closed doors. The unseen reps.
If you’re in a season where progress feels invisible—keep going. Quiet work creates loud results.
3. There’s power in trusting God when it doesn’t make sense.
I’ve faced pressure on the ice and pressure in business—but nothing compares to the weight we felt when our son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. That kind of news stops everything. It’s overwhelming, frightening, and heartbreaking all at once.
But what carried us through wasn’t control—it was faith.
We didn’t have all the answers. But we knew God did. We made the choice to trust Him through every step, every injection, every night of worry. And through that trust, we found strength we never knew we had.
You may not understand the storm you’re in—but trust that God has a purpose on the other side of it.
4. Success doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from doing what matters most.
As a player, I learned quickly that you can’t chase every puck. You have to read the play, stay in your lane, and focus on what makes the biggest impact.
In business, the same rule applies. You don’t win by doing everything—you win by doing the right things well. You figure out where your energy matters most, and you double down.
The most successful people I know don’t have more time or talent. They’ve just learned to prioritize what moves the needle.
Ask yourself: What’s the one thing I can do today that will make the most impact in my business, family, goals or relationships.
5. You don’t have to be perfect to make a difference—you just have to be present.
As a coach, I’ve realized that the greatest impact I have on young players isn’t in the drills—it’s in the encouragement. The conversations. The belief I help them build in themselves.
You don’t need a title or a trophy to lead. You just need to show up—consistently, humbly, and fully present.
Whether it’s in your business, your family, your community, or your faith walk, people don’t need you to be perfect—they need you to be real.
You have no idea how powerful your presence is. Never underestimate the difference you make just by being there and being all in.
One Last Thought
You may not feel like you’re crushing it today. You may be tired, stretched thin, or wondering if your effort is even making a dent.
It is.
Keep showing up. Keep doing the work. Keep trusting God.
You matter—and the best is still ahead.
Let’s make this week count.
