FUEL Up For The Week Ahead

In hockey, in business, and in life, you don’t perform at your best without the right fuel.

On the ice, fuel means training, rest, and nutrition. In business, it’s strategy, creativity, and execution. In life, it’s the mindset, faith, and habits that give you the strength to show up at your best for the people who count on you.

Check Out Our Video Of The Week – Beyond The Mammogram  (this is one of our clients that’s is changing the game for breast cancer detection)

Over the years through my time, playing professional hockey, building a business, coaching, young players, and navigating the challenges of family life. I’ve learned that the right fuel is more than just energy for your body. It’s what Power is your heart, your mind, and your soul.

That’s why I like to think of FUEL as a framework one that has helped me on the ice, in the office, and especially through personal trials like when our son was diagnosed with diabetes at just four years old. It’s a way to keep your tank full when life feels like it’s trying to drain you.

Here’s what it means to me:

F – Feed the Positive

When I was chasing my NHL dream, I learned early on that your mind is your biggest ally or your toughest opponent. Negative thinking can crush  your game before you even step on the ice.

In my toughest seasons, in hockey, business, and life I made a decision to intentionally feed the positive. That meant surrounding myself with uplifting voices, starting the day with gratitude, and refusing to dwell on the things I couldn’t control.

One habit I’ve built is beginning each morning with a moment of thankfulness sometimes while out on a walk, sometimes in quiet prayer. It’s amazing how quickly gratitude shifts your perspective. When you feed the positive you don’t just block out the negative you strengthen yourself for the challenges ahead.

I will feed the positive today by:

U - Uplift Your Mind

As a player, I spent countless hours training my body. But as I’ve grown as a businessman, a coach, a husband, and a father I’ve learned the importance of training and uplifting my mind.

For me, that means reading my Bible, spending time in prayer, surrounding myself with people and content that lift me higher. It might be a conversation with a mentor, time in nature, or a moment in the arena, watching a young player, find their confidence.

We live in a world that constantly drains our mental energy. If we don’t take time to recharge and renew, we end up running on empty. A strong mind fuels strong leadership, in your home and in work.

Today I will uplift my mind by:

E - Encourage Others

One of the greatest joys in my life right now is coaching youth hockey. I’ve seen firsthand how a single word of encouragement can change the way. A young player carries themselves on and off the ice.

Encouragement, costs nothing, but its value is immeasurable. It’s just as important in business with your team, and in your personal relationships.

When our family was learning to navigate our son’s diabetes, the encouragement, we received from friends, family, and our church community carried us through. Now I try to be that source of encouragement for others because you never know what battle they’re fighting.

Today I will encourage:

L - Love It

Fear is a thief. It robs energy, steals joy, and keeps you from stepping into your purpose. The best way I found to fight fear? Love.

Love the game whether it’s hockey or business. Love your clients. Love your teammates. Love the challenge that’s in front of you. When I played professionally, there were tough games, exhausting road trips, and battles. I didn’t always want to fight, but when I chose to love the moment, it brought out my best.

In our family’s hardest times, love, fueled us. Love for God, love for each other, and love for the life we were building - no matter how challenging - gave us the courage to keep moving forward.

Today I will love:

This week, I want you to lace up. I want you to get out there with a full tank.

Feed the positive don’t let negativity get the first shift.

Uplift your mind guard your thoughts like you guard the net.

Encourage others because one well timed word can change the whole game.

And love it, love the challenge, the grind, the opportunity to make a difference.

You’ve trained for this. You’re ready for this.

If your business needs marketing that works, give us a call. We're here to help!

Have a great day unless you chose otherwise!
