Love Without Words

This week I came across a powerful message from Roy Williams that really resonated with me. Roy’s message about Love Without Words is very timely!

Check Out Our Video Of The Week – Beyond The Mammogram  (this is one of our clients that’s is changing the game for breast cancer detection, worth a listen too)

Pearl had the power of five different breeds packed into one small frame. She was my “megadog.” The Mustang was a 1971 convertible—white with a blue interior. The car and the dog never said a word, of course, but they didn’t have to.

Because speech isn’t required to show love.

I found Pearl in the middle of nowhere, Oklahoma, when I was 8 years old. She’d been abandoned, hungry, and alone. I was lonely and in need of a friend. We adopted each other instantly.

Once Pearl realized she had a home, she relaxed into the happiest, most contented creature you could imagine. But beneath that mellow exterior was fierce loyalty. If she thought I was in trouble, that 16‑pound bundle of fur turned into a lightning‑fast, werewolf‑sized protector.

Pearl lived by the wisdom of E.W. Howe: “When a friend is in trouble, don’t annoy him by asking if there is anything you can do. Think up something appropriate and do it.”

Years later, I spotted that ’71 Mustang sitting abandoned by the side of the road. In 1991, I left a note under the wiper: “Might this be a good time to sell this car? Give me a call and I’ll buy it where it sits.” The owner called. I met him with cash in hand. He asked if I’d called a wrecker. “No,” I said, “I’m hoping to drive it home.”

I pulled a pair of pliers from my back pocket, replaced the fuel filter, and the Mustang roared to life. That car never let me down. It seemed to have a mind of its own—never a flat, never running out of gas unless we were within coasting distance of a station. If it ever did break down, it somehow did so within sight of a parts store.

Like Pearl, the Mustang didn’t speak. But it had a way of showing up when I needed it most.

We live in a world drowning in words—especially online. Social media has become an endless chorus of “yap‑yap‑yap.” But love—real love—isn’t just about saying the right thing. It’s about doing the right thing.

Jesus told a story about a father with two sons. One said he’d work in the vineyard but never went. The other refused at first but changed his mind and did the work. Which one did what the father wanted? The answer is obvious—the one who acted.

James wrote that if you see someone in need and respond with nothing but “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” without helping them, your words mean nothing.

Actions will always speak louder than words.

You and I both have people in our lives we care deeply about. Words are good—they matter—but if they’re not backed by action, they’re hollow.

Pearl showed her love by standing between me and danger. The Mustang showed its loyalty by getting me home. Neither ever said a word.

Maybe it’s time we talk a little less, and love a little more—with our hands, our time, and our actions.

Because speech is not required to show love.

Love Without Words Suggestions:

1 - Choose one person. Do one concrete thing in 24 hours. Drop off a meal, run an errand, send a gift card, fix something, watch the kids—don’t ask, act.

2 - Replace one post with a personal touch. Skip a social post and make a call, voice note, or doorstep visit to encourage someone who needs it.

3 - Carry a “kindness kit.” Keep two $10 gift cards, a thank‑you note, and a pen in your bag or car. Use them before week’s end.

4 - Schedule service. Put a 30–60 minute “help someone” block on your calendar. Treat it like a meeting you can’t miss.

5 - Measure by action, not intention. Write down three specific acts you’ll complete this week. Check them off. Then add one more.

If your business needs marketing that works, give us a call. We're here to help!

Have a great day unless you chose otherwise!

Quote of the Week

What we do is more important than what we say or what we say we believe.

Word of the Week

Hidebound (hyde-bound): Someone or something described as hidebound is inflexible and unwilling to accept new or different ideas.

Eg: Although somewhat stuffy and strict, the professor did not so completely adhere to hidebound academic tradition that he wouldn’t teach class outside on an especially lovely day.

Proverb of the Week

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and to the bones.

(Proverbs 16 verse 24 The Bible)
