The Overtime Mindset
In hockey, overtime changes everything. The pace is faster. The stakes are higher. Mistakes are magnified. Every decision matters.
I’ve been in overtime games where the tension was so thick you could feel it in your chest.
The crowd is on edge, the benches are laser-focused, and every player knows—one play decides the outcome.
To win in overtime, you have to stay calm under pressure, trust your preparation, and give everything you’ve got, even when your legs are burning.

Faith Perspective
Faith plays a huge role in overtime moments. When the game is on the line and I’ve already given my all, I’ve learned to lean into God’s strength rather than my own. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us:
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
Overtime moments aren’t just tests of endurance—they’re opportunities to see God work through you in ways you couldn’t on your own.
This Week’s Challenge
- Identify your “overtime” area this week. Where are you being called to push through fatigue or pressure?
- Focus on execution, not emotion. Remove the panic and lock in on your next best action.
- Draw from preparation. Remember the work, training, and faith you’ve built up to this point—it’s there for a reason.
- Pray for strength and clarity. Ask God to steady your mind and multiply your energy in this moment.
