Living Life On Purpose!
“The purpose of life is a life of purpose.” – Robert Byrne
This past weekend, I woke up early on Saturday morning to an email from a good friend. Inside was a quote I hadn’t read in years — Michael Josephson’s “What Will Matter.”
It’s been at least fifteen years since I last read those words, but this time, they hit differently. Maybe it’s because of the experiences, challenges, and growth that come with time.

As I reflected on the message, it reminded me how important it is to live with intention — to maximize every moment, prioritize what truly matters, and live a life on purpose.
When I was playing hockey, I learned early that success isn’t just about winning games — it’s about why you play.
The best players aren’t just chasing stats; they’re chasing purpose.
They play for their teammates, their families, their love of the game.
The same applies to life and business. It’s easy to get caught up in the grind — chasing numbers, deals, and deadlines — and forget what truly matters.
But when you live with purpose, everything changes. The work has meaning. The effort feels worthwhile.
The setbacks don’t break you — they refine you.
Josephson’s words remind us that, in the end, it’s not about what we own or what we achieve.
It’s about what we build, who we serve, and how we love.
It’s about the lives we touch and the legacy we leave behind.
As a coach, I tell my players all the time — one day, the game will end. The skates will come off for the last time, and the scoreboard won’t matter anymore. But what will matter is who you became because of the game.
Did you lead with integrity?
Did you lift others up?
Did you make those around you better?
Faith has taught me that purpose isn’t something we invent — it’s something we discover.
God created each of us with a plan, and every season of life — the wins, the losses, the waiting — is part of that purpose being revealed.
So, as you step into this week, I want to challenge you to live on purpose.
Be intentional.
Love deeply.
Serve faithfully.
Give generously.
Because in the end, it won’t be about how much you accomplished, but about how much of yourself you gave to others.
Choose to live a life that matters.
