The Fight Inside You!
Every week I hear people say, “I wish I knew my purpose,” or “How do you figure out what you’re meant to do?”
I get it. I’ve asked those same questions at different points in my life — as a young hockey player chasing the NHL, as a business owner rebuilding after setbacks, as a dad navigating the shock of our son’s diabetes diagnosis, and even today as I try to lead, coach, and serve in a way that honors God.
Check Out Our Video Of The Week – Why Not You?

This week I came across a message from Roy Williams that really hit home — not just because of the wisdom in it, but because it perfectly matches what I’ve learned through my own journey.
Billy Sunday, the fiery preacher from the late 1800s, once said: “More men fail through lack of purpose than lack of talent.”
I believe that with everything in me. I’ve seen unbelievably talented players fade out because they had no deeper reason behind what they were doing. And I’ve seen average players become exceptional because they had clarity, grit, and purpose that lit them up from the inside.
But before we talk about purpose, we need to talk about something else: possibility.
Who You See in the Mirror Isn’t the Full Story - Growing up chasing the NHL dream, I had days where I doubted myself. Coaches passed over me, doors closed, injuries hit. If I only believed what I saw in the mirror on those days — a frustrated kid fighting an uphill battle — I never would’ve become the player who eventually signed with the New York Rangers.
The mirror shows you your reflection. Life shows you your limitations. But purpose? That shows you your potential.
You are more than what the world sees. Your gifts, passions, and scars are exactly what God can use. What’s inside you is enough — because He made it enough.
A hockey jersey doesn’t make a player. A title doesn't make a leader. A setback doesn’t define a life. It’s the fire inside you that matters.
Purpose Comes From What You Care About. People say they can’t find their purpose, but the truth is simpler: Purpose is revealed by what you care about.
If you care about something — really care — purpose is already there. You don’t need to search for it under rocks or wait for some lightning bolt moment.
When I look back, my purpose wasn’t hidden at all:
I cared deeply about becoming the best hockey player I could be.
I cared about helping teams win.
I cared about building a business that served people well.
I cared about helping young players grow.
I cared about my faith and my family.
And I cared about encouraging others — that’s why the Monday Morning Motivator exists.
You don’t have one purpose. You have many — and they evolve as you do. The problem isn’t that you lack purpose. The problem is that you care about so much that choosing feels overwhelming.
Start Small — Like an Acorn. Oak trees begin as acorns. Championship teams begin with one practice. A life of meaning begins with one decision:
Choose two or three things you care deeply about and start there.
Nurture those purposes. Commit to them. Watch them take root in you.
Over time, some will grow stronger than others — and that’s okay. Purpose expands as your heart expands.
What You Do Next Matters
Here’s my challenge for the week:
Stop waiting to “find” your purpose.
Start living the purposes already inside you.
Pick two or three things you care about and take action — today.
You have more inside you than you realize. You have more reasons to make a difference than you’re giving yourself credit for. And you’re far more equipped than you think.
Purpose isn’t discovered. Purpose is lived. Now go — get started.
If your business needs marketing that works, give us a call. We're here to help!
Have a great day unless you chose otherwise!
