Love. Serve. Care.
Every once in a while, I come across a message that’s so simple, so true, and so practical that it cuts through all the noise. Jon Gordon’s reminder about “Love, Serve, Care” is one of those truths. And the more life I live—as an athlete, a coach, a business owner, a husband, a father, and a man of faith—the more I realize how deeply these principles shape everything meaningful.
Success isn’t complicated. But it does require intention.
I’ve seen this in locker rooms, in boardrooms, at the rink with the kids I coach, and at home with my family. Whether you’re building a business, building a team, or building a life—these three principles are the foundation.

LOVE — THE STARTING POINT OF GREATNESS
When I look back at my hockey career, the moments that pushed me forward weren’t the highlight-reel goals or the big wins—they were the hard days when love for the game kept me going. If I didn’t genuinely love hockey, I never would have survived the long practices, injuries, setbacks, cuts, or the grind of chasing a contract with the New York Rangers.
Love is the fire that lets you endure the parts no one sees.
It’s the same in business. If I didn’t love the people I serve or believe in the mission, I would have tapped out a long time ago—especially during seasons when everything felt like it was falling apart.
And in leadership? Love is the difference-maker.
Good coaches know the systems. Great coaches know their players.
Good leaders understand strategy. Great leaders understand people. Love is what turns average into excellence.
SERVE — LOVE IN MOTION
I’ve learned over the years that because we love, we serve. Service is the heartbeat of leadership and the lifeblood of impact.
When I coach young hockey players, I’m not just teaching them the game—I’m serving them by helping shape their attitude, character, and confidence.
When my business hit tough times, the only reason I kept moving forward was because I kept serving, even when the results weren’t immediate. Serving restores your purpose on the days when motivation isn’t enough.
Serve your team.
Serve your customers.
Serve your family.
Serve God.
You don’t need to be great to serve… but you do need to serve to become great.
And the beautiful part? When you pour into others, you grow too.
CARE — WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT
Care shows up in the details.
It’s walking a player through a drill again because you see they need it.
It’s taking time to check on a struggling employee.
It’s noticing the small things your family does that often go unseen.
It’s doing the right thing when no one is watching.
In a world where so many people rush, skim, and move on… caring is a competitive advantage.
People can feel it. They can sense when you’re fully present. They know when you’re genuinely invested.
Care turns leaders into mentors, coaches into role models, businesses into movements, and ordinary work into craftsmanship.
Care transforms the work of your hands into a reflection of your heart.
THE SIMPLE PATH FORWARD
Life pulls us toward complexity.
More goals. More systems. More hacks. More noise.
But the path to real greatness is simple:
Love deeply.
Serve humbly.
Care genuinely.
Do this day after day, one person at a time, and you’ll build something far more meaningful than success—you’ll build impact. You’ll build legacy. You’ll help others rise while becoming who you were created to be.
It’s not easy. But it is simple. And it’s always worth it.
If your business needs marketing that works, give us a call. We're here to help!
Have a great day unless you chose otherwise!
