The Bigger Pond
In hockey, and in life, nobody accidentally ends up at the highest level.
There is always a cost.
Early mornings. Extra reps. Being cut from teams. Sitting on the bench. Fighting for ice time. Swallowing pride. Starting over.
Check Out Our Video Of The Week – Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

Every level up demands something from you.
And that same principle applies in business, leadership, marriage, parenting—every area of life.
For every achievement, there is a price of entry.
The real question isn’t “Do I want the reward?” It’s “Am I willing to pay the cost?”
Everyone wants the next chapter. The growth. The promotion. The impact.
But few are willing to step into the discomfort required to get there.
Because the real cost isn’t just time or effort. It’s ego. It’s identity. It’s humility.
There’s a concept called the Frog Pond Effect. The idea is simple: the same frog feels confident in a small pond and insecure in a bigger one. The frog hasn’t changed — only its environment has.
When you’re the best player in your league or the most experienced one in the room — it feels good. It’s comfortable. But comfort rarely produces growth.
The biggest growth seasons of my life came when I felt behind, unproven, or exposed.
The bigger pond is uncomfortable.
It’s walking into a room and realizing you have the most to learn.
It’s being the youngest guy in the locker room.
It’s starting something new and realizing you’re not as prepared as you thought.
It’s the ego hit of being a beginner again.
But that discomfort is a signal.
It means you’re stretching. It means you’re expanding. It means you’re putting yourself in a position where growth is inevitable.
The small pond feels safe — but it quietly limits you.
The bigger pond challenges you — but it transforms you.
The moments that shaped me most were the ones that humbled me. The seasons when I had to fight for my place. The times when I felt like I didn’t belong — but refused to quit.
Confidence is forged in challenge, not comfort.
If you’ve been asking for growth, be ready to pay the cost.
Growth will require you to leave what’s comfortable.
You asked for the growth. So don’t complain about the stretch.
Step into the bigger pond with courage.
The discomfort you feel today may be preparing you for the breakthrough tomorrow.
Are you ready to leave the small pond?
If your business needs marketing that works, give us a call. We're here to help!
Have a great day unless you chose otherwise!
