What Are You Doing Here?

This past week I was reading about Elijah the prophet, and something really stood out to me.

Here’s a man who had just experienced one of the most incredible victories you could imagine—calling down fire from heaven, witnessing God move in a powerful way—and yet… not long after, he found himself hiding in a cave.

Check Out Our Video Of The Week - Keep Your Faith

Full of doubt.

Full of fear.

Full of discouragement.

And I thought to myself…

How often does that happen in our own lives?

We experience a win.

A breakthrough.

A moment where everything feels clear.

And then suddenly… we’re back in our own version of the cave.

If you don’t believe in the Bible, don’t let that stop you from the message here—because this is something we can all relate to.

Belief Is a Choice

There’s a lot of debate around Elijah.

Different meanings.

Different interpretations.

Different perspectives.

And it made me realize something simple but powerful:

You can “prove” almost anything if you choose the right sources.

People will argue facts.

They’ll argue interpretations.

But at the end of the day…

Belief is a choice.

Not something forced on you.

Not something proven beyond doubt.

Something you choose.

And that matters—because what you choose to believe will shape how you live.

You Have Something Inside You

Elijah’s story talks about calling down fire from heaven.

Now maybe that sounds symbolic. Maybe it sounds literal. That’s not the point.

The point is this:

You have something inside of you.

A gift.

A strength.

A calling.

Something you do naturally well.

Something that feels right when you’re doing it.

Something that energizes others when you show up fully.

Maybe it’s how you lead.

Maybe it’s how you encourage others.

Maybe it’s how you think, build, serve, coach, plan, or care.

That’s your “fire.”

And whether you realize it or not…

You were meant to use it.

The Cave Is Part of the Journey

Even after everything Elijah experienced, he still found himself hiding.

That’s important.

Because it reminds us:

Self-doubt is part of the human experience.

Even strong people feel it.

Even successful people go through it.

Even people with deep faith wrestle with it.

There will be moments where:

You feel stuck.

You feel uncertain.

You feel like you don’t belong.

That doesn’t mean you’re off track.

It means you’re human.

The Whisper

In the story, God doesn’t show up in the wind.

Not in the earthquake.

Not in the fire.

He shows up in a whisper.

And the question is simple:

“What are you doing here?”

Not a question of judgment.

A question of awareness.

A question that makes you stop and think.

Simple Truths to Move Forward

When I reflect on this, it comes back to a few simple truths:

You have something inside you.

Even when it’s dark, you’re not done.

You don’t need to have it all figured out.

Just start.

Do what you can…

With what you have…

Where you are.

Take one step.

Then another.

Then another.

Final Thought

Sometimes we’re waiting for something big.

A sign.

A breakthrough.

A moment.

But often, it’s not a loud voice that moves us forward.

It’s a quiet one.

A whisper.

Asking:

What are you doing here?

If your business needs marketing that works, give us a call. We're here to help!

Have a great day unless you chose otherwise!
